Hayley and Alan's Wedding at Pemberton Gardens in Christchurch

Hayley and Alan were married in mid November at Pemberton Gardens. Hayley and her bridesmaids got ready at Peppers Clearwater Resort along withGraceful Hair art and Kasia Stanicich Makeup. Alan and his groomsmen and family got ready onsite at Pemberton which is a fantastic option to make use of when you get married at Pemberton. Freedom Flowers and Foliage delivered Hayley her stunning flowers and soon we were all headed back to Pemberton to get these two married.

At 3pm Hayley walked up the aisle and shortly after Celebrant Caitlin Jane Marett declared them married. After some hugs and kisses we got a big group photo of everyone and followed up with some family photos. Then after some time enjoying the sun, drinks and outdoor vibes at Pemberton I whisked the bridal party away for a photoshoot.

at 5:50pm to much cheering and delight Hayley and Alan were welcomed in for the wedding reception. They cut their Cake from Full Time Tart and we settled in for some speeches and dinner. I snuck the happy couple out for some sunset photos and finished up a little while later once the dancing and party had begun care of DJ4You.

Scroll down just a little to watch the Heirloom Film I made, and beyond that for some of the photos I took.

Here’s what Hayley and Alan had to say about my services

‘Rowan was our photographer & videographer for my wedding back in November 2022.

We were very happy with all the videos and photos that Rowan captured on our special day and have many family and friends mention how well he fitted into the day.

Appreciate the pre-wedding catch up to go over details and for all the responsive communication! Would happily recommend Rowan for anyone wanting to use him for their wedding as you won't regret it!!’

After a bit of time with Hayley Graceful Hair art and Kasia Stanicich Makeup at Peppers Clearwater Resort I headed across town to catch up with Alan, his groomsmen and family at Pemberton. Visiting Pemberton this early in the morning was fantastic as I was able to unpack the car and get set up for the ceremony nice and early!

Call me old fashioned but these are some of my favourite photos to take at a wedding, the absolute classic, smile and look at the camera shots 😀

That Afternoon

You’ll notice through this next section, it’s all clips of video. When i’m capturing with the Heirloom Film style, I look to capture as many moments as I can through he ceremony in video first. There are so many great never to be repeated moments during the ceremony, so every camera I have is set to video.

After the Ceremony I go into Photographer mode for a a more sustained period while we get family group shots

then while everyone hangs out and enjoys the vibe I switch between capturing moments for the film and taking photos

as we take a tour of the gardens for a picnic and photoshoot I focus mostly on the photography while capturing the occasional moment for the film

Putting together everything above didn’t happen overnight! to make a Heirloom Film there is a fair amount of reviewing and editing that has to take place for. in many ways the filming on the day is the easy part, I simply react to everything that takes place. the lion share of the work happens a lot more slowly as I carefully craft the story from the hours of footage that were captured.

To help Hayley and Alan with this wait, I made a little preview video that they could enjoy and share right away along with a small sample of the photos I’d taken

here’s what Hayley had to say upon receiving the preview video and photos

MASSIVE THANK YOU for being so amazing on Friday! You were the perfect vendor for us as we felt so comfortable having you there!

We had the best possible day and wow the preview video and photos are AMAZING!! Felt like we were reliving the day all over again!

You captured our day perfectly and thank you so much for getting these previews to us so quickly!!

Thank you Hayley and Alan for having me along!!! Your wedding day was a joy to attend and capture 😁

thanks also to you dear reader for looking through!

Cheers
Rowan
