Abby & Michael's Wonderful Wet Wedding
Abby and Michael were married in Omakau - I drove down the day before and made a Next Day Edit video for them.
Watch their Next Day Edit here and after that join me as I discuss some of my favourite shots and moments from throughout their wedding day.
Let’s talk quickly about rain. Sure it makes parts of the day harder, but it also means really amazing lighting conditions and a great sense of adventure - I think there’s nothing more romantic than rain.
Rain will only ruin the day if you let it. Own that shit and have a good time. Abby and Michael owned their rainy day. I love the video I was able to make as a result.
Here's my favourite shot from the day.
There's a huge long story about how I got this shot. But I'd rather just say it’s my favourite and that it’s not staged in any way. It's just Michael holding the umbrella and Abby hitching up her dress as they make their way from the Ceremony to the marquee where the reception will be - I don’t think they even knew I was filming when this shot was taken!
Everyone was laughing and smiling all day which always makes for the best shots.
Right before the guys got ready I saw this on the wall. Combined with the song Abby and Michael had picked, I knew this would be a great way to start the video
I love my close ups of the rings - I'm particularly happy with this one.
Towards the end of the photoshoot I got these shots. I really love the lighting. - shout out to Chris Stanley from Focus Photography - he found this spot for us to shoot at. I love working with Chris 😁
🍾Poppin Bubbles - too much fun 😆
Abby sneaks up on her dad for a first look - love the look of this shot. Very dramatic
This was probably the rainiest wedding ceremony I've shot. I knew I had to get a shot of all the umbrellas during the ceremony
Abby doesn’t hold back! 😁 😁 😁 Great Ceremony Kiss.
As cold as it was for the bridesmaids it's cool because I can get shots like this one 😆
Looking cool guys!
Abby and Michael’s triumphant return, finally out of the rain 😁
I'm a huge fan of the first dance. You don't have to learn a dance. Just get on the floor and sway around a bit. It's super romantic and a great way to finish the day.
Abby's beautiful wedding bouquet.
I really enjoyed my adventure to Omakau to shoot Abby and Michael's wedding. The rain was a pain but I'm so proud of everyone that we were able to just get on and enjoy the day regardless. I'm very proud of the Next Day Edit that I was able to make as a result. - Abby and Michael's wedding video has become my default example of not letting the rain ruin the day.
Thankfully the Omakau Hotel had broadband and I was able to upload Abby and Michael's video later that night. Their Wedding Video was ready for them to watch the next morning. - also check out the photo Abby's using for her profile picture in that screenshot - super proud of that one! 😆 😆 😆
Here's more of what Abby and Michael had to say 😁
'OMG!! I just can’t stop looking at our next day video!! You captured the day and us sooo well! I love it!!
Michael and I sat down and watched the other videos, thank you soooo much!!
It’s so nice to sit back and watch the day unfold again! So many things that we both missed have been captured!
Can’t say thank you enough!! '
As always the pleasure is all mine 😁
