Courtney & Chad's Castle Hill Elopement!
I took the photos and shot a film for Courtney and Chad.
I’ll start this blog entry with this panorama that I created out of several frames in a single clip of video. The result is a very wide, very high resolution panorama of Castle Hill with Courtney and Chad taking in the view.
These are all the best moments from Courtney and Chad’s Elopement Wedding at Castle Hill. After the video I’ll share some more photos and talk through various parts of the day.
The best thing about Courtney and Chad’s Wedding day was how relaxed it all was. I was both Photographer and Videographer on the day and it was the perfect match. Courtney and Chad wanted a fun day getting married somewhere wonderful and I was along for the ride making a film and getting some photos without overwhelming the day.
The morning started with Courtney getting her hair done while Chad sipped a coffee and watched. As simple as it all was it still had that pre wedding atmosphere that’s so much fun to be in on.
I’d discussed with Courtney and Chad ahead of time how cool it would be to get shots of Chad helping Courtney with her dress. Once the moment arrived the resulting shot is one of my favourites from their film (seriously check it out in motion, it’s great) Then Chad puts on his shirt and jacket and we’re off to Castle Hill!
We were joined by Krissy Christensen who was officiating the wedding and two witnesses to make it all legal. 😀 First we had to trek into Castle Hill.
Chad’s excited 😁😁😁
Married!
I love how much Courtney and Chad were both smiling and laughing throughout their vows.
After the Ceremony the three of us explored Castle Hill for a few hours. First we got some nice shots at the ground level...
...then we jumped up on top of the rocks and things got really awesome!
Courtney and Chad met through Yoga so we ran though some poses 😁
This is probably my favourite photo from the day. I think it looks like a poster for a rom-com 😆
This is another of my personal favourite shots from the day. Towards the end of the shoot, Courtney’s holding Chad’s jacket and we are making our way back and out of Castle Hill. I’m also a big fan of when the groom holds the bride’s bouquet.
Finally there’s this fun shot, one of the last I snapped. Courtney and Chad entered Castle Hill only a few hours before, and now they exit as husband and wife! (Bonus points for the sunglasses 😎)
While we all celebrated over lunch, I snuck outside and got these shots of Courtney and Chad’s Wedding Rings. Courtney had mentioned how much she loved my super closeup shots of the rings so I really made a effort to deliver. I’m super stoked with the result.
I absolutely love photographing the rings at extreme detail like this. They can be tricky to position just right, and it’s one of the scariest moments on the day when you’re holding the rings (usually before the bride and groom have even had a chance to use them during the ceremony). I can’t tell you how many wooden decks I’ve stood on at baches throughout New Zealand where I’m positively shitting myself at the thought of dropping one or both of the rings down below a deck.

Finally here’s a shot of all of us 😁 taken right after the Ceremony.
Thanks to Courtney and Chad for asking me along to share in and capture their day, it was a real privilege and a lot of fun!
Cheers
